Straighten Teeth Your Way With Invisalign

posted: May 12, 2021.

Traditional braces can improve your smile in more ways than one. This type of correction is about much more than the way your teeth look, but it is nonetheless a welcome benefit. Braces, however, may not be for everyone. Unless you have a severe enough condition that requires them or you are very young, then Invisalign clear aligners may be the better option. These are a far less visible alternative that offers several other benefits over metal braces. If you would like to learn much more please get in contact with Dr. David Handelsman in Annapolis, MD.

Fewer Office Visits

Invisalign aligners work in a very similar way to traditional braces, at least in the underlying way that they correct your smile. They both slowly push your teeth into the correct position over time through light pressure. To accomplish this, braces must be adjusted about every six weeks or less. While with invisible aligners you simply remove the one you are wearing and transition into the next one in the series, as simple as that. Although you are still expected to come into the office every so often to monitor your progress.

Greater Convenience Overall

One of the aspects for which invisible aligners are most well known is right in the name, they are far less visible than traditional braces. They may even go completely unnoticed in a picture. But that is not all that makes them a convenient option.

It is the fact that they are removable that makes them such an attractive choice. You can take them off to eat, which eliminates one of the biggest complaints of metal braces and their very limited diet. With invisible aligners, you are free to eat what you want, but you should still minimize your consumption of sugary foods and drinks to help guard against decay.

Then there is cleaning, for which you should also remove the aligners, something that can substantially simplify your time with the toothbrush.

But because they are removable it can be easy to become complacent, so remember that aligners should be worn for about 22 hours of every day in order for the treatment to be effective.

Invisalign in Annapolis, MD

Unless you require metal braces because of your age or due to a condition that only they can treat, Invisalign clear aligners may yet be the best way for you to straighten your teeth if you are looking for a less visible and much more convenient alternative. So make an appointment today to find out if you're a candidate for the treatment, contact Dr. Handelsman in Annapolis, MD, by dialing (410) 268-3347.
